Sheep Breeders
Red Spruce Farm has a flock of around 25 ewes in Pictou County, Nova Scotia, in Atlantic Canada.
We started our sheep journey in 2020 with mostly North Country Cheviot ewes and a registered North Country Cheviot ram named Howie.
In 2024 we brought in a Bluefaced Leicester ram to integrate some extra frame size into our ewes and lambs, which also brought with him superior wool from the fleece. In 2026 we have brought in an Ile de France ram to increase the frame size of our lambs and also add a little quicker weight gains while maintaining excellent mothering characteristics and robust adaptability.

Lambs
We like to lamb in the late winter to see our lambs reach 80 – 100 lbs (35 – 45 kg) before we harvest, which makes it usually a late summer or early fall harvest.
If you’re interested in lambs to start your flock or as meat, please contact us to discuss availability and what options we have.

Raw Wool and Sheep Fleece
Every year around December we shear all of our sheep on the farm. After shearing we will clean, card, and then spin our wool to be for sale at each stage. We have really enjoyed our North Country Cheviot fleece and wool, but have found that our Bluefaced Leicester x North Country Cheviot fleece is exceptional, and was graded 91 / 100 at the 2026 All Canada Sheep Classic Fleece Competition. You can find the sheep fleece and wool products available in the shop and also on Etsy.
